It was a cool autumn day 

Just around the way 

LL Cool J was blasting 

As I was in the car passing 

I saw you for a little while 

You had a nice sweatshirt and smile 

You're a cool person for real 

By now, you know the deal 

If I tell you something nice 

It's because I'm longer no longer afraid to roll the dice 

I pay you compliments that you deserve 

I don't want you to feel unnerved 

I like whatever we have going 

Even though I have no idea of knowing 

You're an easy person to talk to 

Who's real chill and so true 

All in my brain 

I feel no pain

You help keep me sane 

There's a lot you don't know 

Maybe one day when I'm on the go 

Whatever you have, I have respect for 

I'm not curious or expect more 

I see you as someone authentic 

With good qualities that make you terrific 

You are unique in your own way 

That winning attitude brightens the day

Just a brick wall

Rainstorms the other
Hiding blue skies

With purple haze covering
The chance of a lifetime
All you gotta do is reach out

It's freezing

As howling winds

I wrap myself
In my coat
Fixing my scarf
Breathing the fresh air

With a patchy cloud
Above my head

Letting me know
All is not lost
Still got my wits
Not frozen yet

For that moment
A quiet conversation
Takes place
Ignoring the bitterness

Instead seeing
Light in that cloud
With a hidden message
Encouraging me to go for a ride

With debris kicking up
Hardly getting to my face

Which remains
In one piece
Like my heart
Beating fast

There I stand
Taking its best shot
As if in battle
My opponent mother nature

Urging me on
Not to give in
Wind communicating
Like laughing ghosts

With such a storm
Yet I don't yawn

I'm in
For the long haul
Take a lot more
To make me fall

Even cold ice
Can't stop
I won't slip
Holding rock steady

Passion burning
Fire from the chimney
Moving forward
From this challenge

Around this broken down town
